Founded in 2017, LITH-TECH Mobility began as a small-scale, low-overhead start-up that, after extensive research, identified a gap in the UK mobility market for a new type of product that was gaining traction in the United States: the lightweight folding powerchair.
Over the next year, LITH-TECH made it their mission to understand the global folding powerchair market inside and out. This intense focus was without a doubt what enabled LITH-TECH to grow and scale so quickly. By 2020, LITH-TECH had become the UK’s go-to independent folding powerchair specialist, and their brand and products had built a strong reputation within the mobility sector.

Today, LITH-TECH has a team of six employees, three of whom are highly trained sales specialists with knowledge of folding powerchairs and disabilities that is unrivalled within the industry.
The company conducts 80 percent of its business online or over the phone, without customers ever needing to see or trial the chair in person. This is possible due to their highly informative YouTube videos and in-depth phone consultations, during which specialists take time to understand every aspect of a customer’s requirements before making recommendations.

The remaining 20 percent of the business comes from in-person demonstrations, offered once in the morning and once in the afternoon, each lasting around 1.5 hours. During these sessions, customers are professionally assessed and fitted, and most importantly, taken out in their chosen chair to experience it in a real-world environment. For example, they learn how to navigate the chair over rough terrain and cobbles, climb curbs safely (forwards and backwards), handle tricky pavements with bumps and cambers, and descend grassy slopes with confidence.
LITH-TECH’s UK headquarters operates out of a 4,000 sq. ft premises in Surrey, South of England, and with continued expansion and growth, the company is now seeking a larger HQ. Currently, LITH-TECH offers a range of 14 different lightweight folding wheelchairs (soon to be 15), maintains a physical stock of 400–500 chairs ready for next-day delivery, and holds over 1,000 spare parts along with an array of modifications and add-ons.

As of 2025, LITH-TECH has over 6,000 customers, has won multiple awards, and runs one of the largest folding electric wheelchair YouTube channels in the world, featuring over 150 videos ranging from chair demonstrations to educational tutorials and industry insights. With a clear focus on innovation, quality, and customer empowerment, LITH-TECH continues to expand its influence across the UK, helping users regain mobility and giving them back the freedom they deserve.
