The team pioneered novel compression and erosion barrier technologies to achieve precise control as to when and how each medication release is designed to ensure optimal therapeutic efficacy.

The proprietary Erosion Barrier Layer (EBL) within the tablet is crucial. It provides control over drug release at precise, pre-defined times. The EBL erodes at a controlled rate, exposing each active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) layer at the right moment and ensuring the drug is released either as a pulse or sustained release. This allows for high flexibility in tablet design, accommodating multiple APIs within a single tablet.

“We are nearing the final stage to submit our lead product, CTx-1301, to the FDA as we prepare our New Drug Application (NDA) filing and eventual market launch. Beyond this, we have two additional products in the pipeline—a PTR™ enabled ADHD treatment using amphetamine as well as a non-benzodiazepine product for anxiety which is the number one mental health issue in the United States,” says Courtemanche.
