Cardiac catheter ablation, a major interventional therapy, is the fastest growing first line method of treatment for AF. However, despite its efficacy, only a small percentage of AF patients are treated with this therapy due to the capital equipment costs and the lack of skilled certified cardiac EP physicians.
Cardiac catheter ablation uses radio frequency or cryo as the prevalent energy source, the thermal nature of which puts the patient’s safety and long-term clinical results at risk. The procedure also involves multiple pieces of equipment. AccuPulse, a medical equipment manufacturing company, is developing a safer and more integrated system as a response to this dilemma.
“We are introducing a self-contained system that is an inexpensive and safer alternative to traditional AF treatment options. It will be a US designed 3D system that will be manufactured in China and deployed all over Asia,” says Marcus Julian, CTO of AccuPulse Medical.
The AccuPulse team has developed a novel pulsed electric field ablation (PFA) generator and catheters guided by a cuttingedge 3D mapping navigation system with improved catheter localization, signal acquisition, and more intelligent integration.

Most electrophysiology labs have various discrete systems like ablation catheters, 3D mapping systems, and recording systems. AccuPulse is including an intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) capability, which is currently lacking, to its integrated system and replacing five separate pieces of equipment with one.
AccuPulse’s integrated PFA system solves a major problem electrophysiology labs face with AF treatment today. It is difficult for hospitals to cut costs with multiple equipment in use, but with AccuPulse’s novel technology, the EP labs invest in a single piece of equipment. Its hybrid impedance and magnetic system allow for more accurate localization and visualization of catheters within the heart and help doctors conclude the procedure faster, making it cost-effective for hospitals.
AccuPulse ensures its system is user-friendly, making it easy for physicians to carry out the procedure. It even plans to develop an IoT infrastructure that allows multiple doctors to remotely view clinical procedures.
